Inatel is an overlooked yet high-quality reef break located near Forte de Santo Amaro do Areeiro, close to the well-known Praia de Santo Amaro beach. Though inconsistent, when the right conditions align, Inatel delivers some of the best waves in the area.
This righthander only works with solid west or northwest swells and is best surfed around mid tide. Given its selective nature, the break doesn’t attract large crowds, making it an excellent option for experienced surfers looking for a less crowded yet powerful wave.
Best Surf Season: October to March. During the summer, this spot is usually flat.

Inatel is located near Forte de Santo Amaro do Areeiro, close to the Santo Amaro surf break. Though easily overlooked when driving along the coastal road from Lisbon towards Carcavelos, it is a great option when the conditions align.
Reaching Inatel is simple. It’s just a short drive from Lisbon along the N6 coastal road. If you’re coming by car, you can park near the BP gas station, which is a convenient spot to access the break. Public transport is also an option, with nearby train stations providing easy access for those traveling without a car.
